Lenzie Old Parish Church recently celebrated its 150th anniversary with a weekend of events.
The church commenced the celebration on the Saturday with an organ recital, given by Edinburgh City Organist Dr John Kitchen MBE (pictured). Dr Kitchen’s programme included the March for Wind Instruments from the Magic Flute, by Mozart, which was played at the second organ recital at the Lenzie Church by Alfred Peace on November 11 1887.
On Sunday September 1 the Rev Julie Hearty led a reflective 150th church service, attended by the Provost of East Dunbartonshire and special guests.
Following the service the congregation were able to view an exhibition which took them on a journey from October 11 1872 to the present day, including original documents found within the church dating from 1872 to 1879.
