In December, at Dalry: St Margaret’s Parish Church, a celebration took place during morning worship recognising the long service of a group of elders. The eight elders photographed between them have served the church for a total of 290 years.
All were presented with Church of Scotland certificates and thanked for what they have achieved. David Nisbet has been an elder for 50 years; Daniel Reid, Jean Rodger and Gilda Smith have been elders for 40 years; and Donald Priestley, Isabella Walker, Ian Brown and Penny Brown, for 30 years. The minister, the Rev David Albon, who has been in post since 2019, said that it had been both inspiring and humbling taking part in the special service.
