Christian Aid visit

Lauren Petherbridge, Christian Aid Community and Events Fundraising Officer, visited two Dundee congregations on October 9, receiving donations totalling over £1000 for the East Africa Hunger Crisis Appeal.

Lauren first spoke to the congregation at Kingsgait Kirk (a new union of Meadowside St Paul’s and St Andrew’s) to give an update on the charity’s work, after which the Girls’ Brigade officers served up homemade soup and home baking. Donations for lunch amounted to £300.

She then visited Monifieth Parish Church, where she was presented with a cheque for £860. This was raised on October 1 at Monifieth, when a large number of people enjoyed bacon or egg rolls and home baking, plus the opportunity to purchase handmade cards and crafts and Fairtrade gifts and snacks. This was organised jointly by members of Monifieth and Monikie & Newbigging and Murroes & Tealing churches, some of whom are shown in the photo as Lauren (in the Christian Aid t-shirt) accepts the cheque.
