Prayer
Spirit of God, Come to us as gentle breath, That as we breathe in and out Your presence May suffuse our thoughts, our words, our action, And we may sense Your nearness in all we do.
Spirit of God, Come to us as a mighty wind, Disturbing and unsettling our prejudices, Moving us onwards on paths we Might not have chosen for ourselves.
Spirit of God, Come to us as refreshing water, Bathe our troubled minds and sore hearts With the balm of Your healing love, Renewing our weary existence with energy and strength.
Spirit of God, Come to us as burning fire, Warming what is cold within our lives, Purging all that is unworthy in who we are, Enlivening us with joy and purpose and energy.
Spirit of God, In this season of Pentecost, When the Church remembers its birth And its reason for existence, We pray in times where things are hard For Your wisdom and Your ingenuity, To work in the places where hope is needed, And to be present in the places Where comfort is needed, And to speak in the places where advocacy is needed, And to be silent in the places where presence is needed.
Holy Spirit of God, Bless us and Your Church, Bless us and Your world, Bless us and inspire us all, As You, the fulfilment of God’s promise Have purposed to do.
In the Name of the Spirit of Jesus we pray. Amen.
