Second sunday sing
A new monthly worship event in Glasgow has been launched for people who enjoy singing together.
The Second Sunday Sing is a new initiative from the Wild Goose Resource Group of the Iona Community. The Community is well known for singing together, and believes that worship can be a transformative experience when it reflects the dream of God for the flourishing of all creation.
Iain McLarty, Wild Goose’s Music Resource Worker, said: “We know that songs are one of the things people hold most dearly. It is often the thing that shapes people’s faith.”
Second Sunday Sing has been designed for all who love to sing – congregants, ministers, worship leaders and none of the above. At each event, the gathered group take time to practice new songs together. They trace the journeys of the songs, listening to what the words and music reveal about war and suffering, resilience and hope. The meeting also includes time for refreshments and a short liturgy.
The Second Sunday Sing takes place at Gorbals Parish Church at 3pm on the second Sunday of each month.
