DAY OF CELEBRATION
The new union of Boarhills, Dunino and Holy Trinity: St Andrews held a special day of celebration and thanks, including two adult baptisms, three new members of the church and the ordination and admittance of three new elders.
Long service certificates were also given to eleven elders. The service was led by the Rev Marion Paton (locum minister), the Rev Alastair Symington (interim moderator) and the Rev Fiona Smith, Principal Clerk to the General Assembly, who had been a probationer in Holy Trinity early in her ministry.
Lesley Wilson Moffat and Eve Margaret Crawford were baptised and then they and Irene Donaldson were admitted to the congregation by profession of faith. Patricia Caithness and Stephen Donaldson were ordained as elders and Russell Cockburn admitted.
Long service certificates were presented to Alison Johnson (ordained 1990), Richard McFarlane (1990) Katherine Matheson (1984) Elizabeth Laing (1983) George Donaldson (1979) (in absentia), Mike Stewart (1979), John Rankin (1974) Ron Cruickshanks (1974), Graeme Simmers (1972), Charles Braid (1966) and Keith Neilson (1962).
Michael Stewart, who was Session Clerk of Holy Trinity for ten years and his wife Moira, were thanked and presented with gifts and flowers for their sterling work over the years. These included a box hand carved by minister in association Cameron Harrison from wood from discarded church pews.
