ENDURING WISDOM

Words of Hope and Inspiration by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Published by: SPCK Price: £10.99 for hardback and £8.99 for eBook

During her long reign, the Christmas Day address from the late Queen Elizabeth became increasingly important as she addressed the nation on the biggest Christian holiday of the year.

As the former royal patron to SPCK, the charity behind the publishing house, this new volume follows last year’s publication of Majesty, a book which reflected on her life and was beautifully illustrated with fifty different religious paintings, drawing on her deep faith and values. (Her son, King Charles III, has agreed to follow in her footsteps and become patron to SPCK).

Enduring Wisdom offers a companion publication, focussing instead on her familiar Christmas Day addresses offering an anthology of quotations.

The book offers an insight into the qualities which were closest to her heart: courage, empathy, forgiveness, hope, humility, love and respect, which she sought to encourage in others and which she hoped would endure.

The book is divided into seven chapters, drawing on the collective wisdom found within the many addresses to the nation. Each chapter represents a decade of her reign and each is accompanied by a portrait.

The book would make an excellent Christmas gift for those with an interest in the life of the late Queen or those seeking to learn more about her deep and abiding faith.
