FLOWER FESTIVAL
Over 400 visitors were drawn to a Flower Festival at Motherwell South Parish Church in August.
The Festival hosted a number of floral displays depicting biblical stories, from Christmas to Easter, to Ascension and Pentecost. Each exhibit was created by members of the congregations and friends within Motherwell.
Anne Walker who co-organised the event said: “It really is a celebration and thanksgiving for our faith, and to see so many people attend the church over the weekend has been a great joy. The inspiration for the flower festival has been drawn from our faith, and each display depicts a story that we are familiar with.”
Getta McMillan who also coorganised the event added: “To see people visibly moved has been quite profound. The displays have each spoken to people offering comfort, challenge or inspiration. We didn’t organise this to raise funds, or to provide a social occasion – it has been purely about sharing our faith in a new, creative way.”
