A ‘Big Sing’ at East Mainland Church, Orkney, on September 3 raised more than £1400 for a music charity in Malawi. Seven choirs from churches across the islands gathered for the event ‘Raise the Roof for Malawi’, which was organised by church organist, Ruth Harvey.

Over £1,400 was generously donated to the Malawi Music Fund (Building for Hope). Alan Massey spoke on behalf of the organisation, and explained how funding was used to transform the lives of orphaned children through education, and to build a hostel for at risk girls in Mulanje.
