Spirit has ‘right to roam’

In contesting Richard Frazer’s suggestions about Jesus’ words “The wind blows where it wills ...”, Mike Weaver wrote the following: “Jesus is not found within but is seated at the right hand of the Father and yes, he sent the Holy Spirit, but the Spirit does not roam freely, but as part of the Trinity works the will of the Father.” (November Letters, Life and Work)

As the breath/Spirit of God is involved in Creation, so the Spirit must surely continue to sustain our lives, without which we are dust. John’s Gospel speaks of the Word “which enlightens every one that comes into the world” and it is this Word that becomes flesh in Christ. So how can Mike also state that “the Christian faith is not about the Christ follower’s spiritual enlightenment”?

Given the cry in Psalm 139, “Whither shall I go from thy Spirit ...” and what follows, it would seem that Mike cannot deny the Spirit ‘the right to roam’ - being found anywhere and everywhere.

The difficulty is that Mike follows Paul on the work of Redemption but forgets God’s work in Creation.
