WCRC launches decade for climate justice

The World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) launched its Decade for Climate Justice on Monday June 5, with a webinar focused on “Learning from the Earth: Witnessing to Climate Justice.”

“We believe that this decade to combat climate change will motivate religious communities and other people of good faith to act together to preserve life and uphold life over profit,” said Philip Vinod Peacock, executive for justice and witness.

The theme, based on Job 12:7-10, will guide the WCRC’s work over the next decade. The Decade for Climate Justice will see the Communion increase awareness of the necessity of action on climate justice, promote blue/green churches among WCRC members, drive the ecumenical movement to note the interconnections between ecology and economy, promote solidarity with vulnerable communities that are adversely impacted by climate injustice, and emphasize a spiritual and practical awareness of living simply and in voluntary poverty that are grounded in the ideas of degrowth.

The launch is available on the WCRC’s YouTube channel.
