Saltcoats retirements
On Easter Sunday the Rev Sarah Nicol retired from Saltcoats St Cuthbert’s Parish Church and conducted her last service after 40 years in the ministry. Following her ordination to the ministry in 1983, Sarah worked in churches for the deaf in Edinburgh and Aberdeen and soon after her arrival at St Cuthbert’s five years ago introduced sign language to the congregation. Presentations were made and Sarah looks forward to her retirement in Dunfermline close to her family.
At the same time, Ann Turner stepped down as treasurer at Saltcoats St Cuthbert’s after 55 years. Ann and her late husband Findlay became joint treasurers in 1968, and Ann continued in the position after Findlay’s passing 13 years ago. Ann has decided that now is the right time for her to step down from that role and during a Sunday morning service a presentation was made to recognise her years of dedication and commitment to caring for the church funds. In addition, for 30 years Ann has held a locally renowned annual plant sale for the church, raising over £50,000.
