FORGIVE – WHY SHOULD I AND HOW CAN I

Published by: Hodder & Stoughton Price: £15.99

Timothy Keller is an outstanding pastor, preacher and theologian – the author of many fine books that are always thoughtfully and well presented – among them, Prayer, Encounters with Jesus, the Reason for God and Prodigal God.

Keller, seriously ill and living with cancer, has continued to write and this latest book is, in my opinion, his masterpiece. Here is a book written from a life-time of reflection and ministry. Keller gets to the heart of forgiveness in the gospel and the fundamental impact it ought to have in all areas of our lives.

This book requires to be read thoroughly, thoughtfully, reflectively and with a humble heart. I found myself being spiritually nourished, personally challenged and deeply moved to prayer and action on a whole range of levels as I read and re-read the book.

He masterfully establishes the core principle and meanings of forgiveness and in the final three chapters takes us to the heart of the matter by explaining how to receive God’s forgiveness, grant personal forgiveness and extend it sincerely to others.

I genuinely found the thoughtful reading of “Forgive” a challenging and life-changing experience and would commend it to anyone desiring a deeper experience of God in their lives.
