Young Adult Guild launched

A new group for young people within the Church of Scotland Guild launched in January.

The Young Adult Guild is an official group of the Guild for young adults, providing a platform for fellowship, service and representation. While there is no age limit, the steering group is made up of members between 18 and 30.

The group was formed after six young people approached the leadership team of the Church of Scotland Guild at last year’s General Assembly. Launching on social media before Christmas the leadership group writes: “[It] started at the GA (General Assembly) in May 2022 when a group of six young people approached the Guild with an idea: ‘How do we provide a national space for young people? Join the Guild, they love us,’ and here we are… we ask you to pray for us as we explore this new avenue of faith, fellowship and community.”

The Young Adult Guild will meet about every six weeks, initially online. The launch meeting was entitled ‘Empowerment Through Times of Change’.

Karen Gillon, General Secretary of the Guild, said: “The Guild has a long history of working with and supporting young people in the church and beyond. We are excited about where this new group will bring us together in a genuine partnership.”
