During the excellent multifaith service at the end of the Remembrance event in November people clapped (sic) after the singing of the opening hymn, Jerusalem.
I had a bit of an intimation of this change in the public attitude to worship recently myself. Some weeks ago, as a Minister, I was asked to conduct prayers at the start of a local residents’ meeting.
I was very pleased to do so. However, I was a bit taken aback to be clapped at the end!
So things have changed. However, a bit of joy in this unhappy world is not to be sneezed at even though it may come as a bit of a surprise to us ‘oldies’.
