This year’s Christian Aid Week Sale at St Andrew’s and St George’s West Church, Edinburgh, raised over £108,000, it has been announced.

The sale, one of the largest of its kind in the world, returned in May for its 50th sale, after two years of cancellations or scaled back events due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a letter to supporters, sale convener Lady Mary Davidson paid tribute to the volunteers, old and new, who helped run the event: “Lockdown was declared just before the launch of the 2020 sale. The 2019 sale could have been our last. That it was not, is thanks to the dedication of indomitable friends, so that, in May 2022, this event often described as an Edinburgh institution, could be held again in all its fullness.”

The autumn Pictures and Scottish Books sale at the George Street church will take place from October 20-22.
