#Angelseverywhere project grows wings

THE appearance of sets of angel wings marked the launch and expansion of a major church-led project in Dunfermline in December.

Angels Everywhere, a community project involving a number of churches in the town was launched in 2020. Project organisers had planned to bomb the town centre with angels as a reminder angels are everywhere for passers by to take home and engage with the Christmas story, but Covid-19 restrictions meant they were instead sent to local schools and community groups.

In 2021, the project grew and, working in partnership with Fife College, several sets of angel wings were designed and manufactured by local HNC Interior Design students at locations throughout the town including the landmark Louise Carnegie

Gates at Pittencrieff Park and an entrance to the Kingsgate Shopping Centre.

Fiona Mackenzie, one of the Angels Everywhere team, said: “The past year has been incredibly tough for many people, especially as we spent many months in lockdown as a result of the pandemic.

“That’s why we wanted to spread a little bit of Christmas cheer to Dunfermline this year with these angel wings. Not only did they look gorgeous, but by placing them around the town we were offering the chance for residents to pose alongside them.

“It will hopefully have offered people a chance to reflect on the year that has been, and remind them that there are angels everywhere, not just at Christmas.

“We’re hugely grateful to everyone who has helped us set up this initiative. Special thanks go to Fife College for the work they’ve put in to creating the angel wings and also to pupils of Dunfermline High School who have produced photographs to support the project, which were displayed at a unit in the shopping centre offered to the project.” ¤
