Jordanhill correction

I was interested to read Professor Hume’s article on Jordanhill Church in the December edition of Life and Work. But if I may take the opportunity to correct him on one point, the original All Saints’ Episcopal Church was built in the mid-19th century in what is now Woodend Drive. It can still be seen behind the present church, which was erected in the early 20th century.

It was the original Jordanhill Free Church that was founded further north, in Knightswood Road, serving the mining communities in that area.

But as the mines became worked out and housing development took place further south, the congregation had the courage and the foresight to move and to build the present Jordanhill Church serving this growing community.
