ABBEY REDEDICATED

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland has rededicated the Abbey Church of Dunfermline on the 200th anniversary of the building and praised the congregation’s ‘outward looking service’.

Speaking at the special service, which took place at the end of September and marked the end of the congregation’s four-year programme of bicentenary celebrations, Lord Wallace paid tribute to the faithful work of the Dunfermline congregation through many generations. He also presented long service certificates to seven members of the congregation in various roles.

Pictured are: the Moderator and the Rev MaryAnn Rennie, minister of the Abbey Church, with the long service certificate recipients. From left: Mrs Rennie, Dorothy Wilson (40 years service to the Carillon), Lydia Lawson (30 years as Roll Keeper), Anne Coke (31 years an elder), Lord Wallace, Sheila Howorth (40 years a chorister), Lorraine Fraser (31 years an elder), Margaret MacMillan (40 years a chorister) and Ian Dewar (40 years an elder).
