Registers Notes
We want to correct and explain an error which occurred in the register of ministries in the September edition of this magazine.
In July we were jointly inducted to the charge of Abernyte with Inchture & Kinnaird with Longforgan, collectively known informally as the Carse Churches. This followed our joint induction last October to the charge of Invergowrie.
In the register of ministries this appeared as a translation and stated that we had left Invergowrie. After less than nine months in post that is absolutely not the case. Despite much of it being in lockdown, in nine months we have grown to love our people in Invergowrie – so much so that we are keen to love our neighbours as ourselves and have taken up the neighbouring charge in the Carse as well.
Two ministers working full-time across two jobs: there is nothing unusual in that. But having worked together as jobshare ministers for 12 years in Fife, we have learned the value both for ourselves and our congregations of working to our strengths and sharing as a team and rather than one minister in one parish, we both work together in both.
The people we work with here as in Fife grasp that very quickly and we share together as a team with others in our congregations, and in part of our wider grouping with neighbouring colleagues and elders too.
As the church as a whole moves to more flexible and varied forms of ministry, we are struck by the appetite and openness of congregations and communities to try something new. The decisions of the General Assembly in May are exciting and to be welcomed.
