ECUMENICAL FAREWELL
The Border Kirk Carlisle marked the final service of its minister, the Rev David Pitkeathly, on Sunday June 20. After almost 14 years at the Border Kirk, David is moving to Horsham in West Sussex where his wife Sarah takes up a post in the Methodist Church.
At the same service Janice Moore, retiring from the position of Session Clerk after 10 years, received a gift from David on behalf of the congregation.
Later in the day, David joined the Border Kirk’s Longtown congregation at a joint service with Methodist friends whose minister Rachel Williams is also leaving. The service, led by Methodist Superintendent David Newlove, was a truly ecumenical goodbye as Anglican Vicar Brett Murphy is also transferring from his charge.
