GUILD GATHERING ONLINE

The Church of Scotland Guild’s Annual Gathering, which was to have taken place in Dundee on September 4, has been cancelled.

However, a smaller socially-distanced event is to go ahead in Edinburgh and will be webcast.

A message to members in the Guild’s weekly newsletter said: “We are disappointed to have to let you know that the Annual Gathering planned for the Caird Hall on Saturday September 4 has had to be cancelled. However, it has been agreed to hold an in-person Annual Gathering in the Assembly Hall where we will be able to have approximately 100 people, including representatives from each Guilds Together group. We are currently in dialogue with the technical staff to ensure that you will be able to join us from the comfort of your own home. Further details will be sent to all Guilds but please save the date!”

The Guild’s Annual Gathering usually brings together hundreds of members from throughout Scotland and includes singing and guest speakers, including the Moderator of the General Assembly. This is the second year that the Gathering has been cancelled due to Covid-19.

Last year, a pre-recorded video was broadcast instead.
