HOW TO EAT BREAD

Published by: Hodder and Stoughton Price: £12.99

The Bible can be daunting – particularly for anyone who has not read it before.

In this new paperback, the author, a Church of England vicar, has developed a resource for those seeking to explore the Bible as part of their faith.

Described as ‘filling the gap’ between popular Bible reading notes and works with weightier academic language, the book is divided into three main parts: From the Larder, which includes demonstrations of different ways of reading; Grandma’s Recipe Book, offering historical methods of biblical interpretation and Molecular Gastronomy, offering insights and methods of modern theological hermeneutics.

The author, currently team rector of St Luke in the City in Liverpool, encourages readers to treat it as ‘a well-loved recipe book, making notes in the margins if you try a substitution that works well for you or you had a culinary disaster’ offering a novel approach to reading the Bible and deepening faith.
