CHURCH RECOGNISED FOR ‘OUTSTANDING’C OMMUNITY SERVICE

Bellshill West Parish Church has been recognised in the Provost’s Citizenship Awards in North Lanarkshire.

The church received a certificate, signed by Provost Jean Jones, recognising ‘outstanding and dedicated service to our community’.

Since lockdown, the church has provided online services and Messy Church, a weekly musical item by organist Duncan Mackay which has been shared globally, has distributed soup and cake and Christmas dinners to people in the community, and gave Christmas gifts to 200 local children.

David Foye, the communications team leader at the church, said: “These are a few ‘highlights’ but so much more has been happening and we are just so grateful that someone has noticed us doing our wee bit for our community to get this recognition.”
