COMMUNITY PROJECT BOAT PURCHASE

An Edinburgh charity and a local church working in partnership has announced the purchase of a canal boat which will be used to help improve community wellbeing.

The All Aboard Canal boat, to be run by People Know How and Polwarth Parish Church, will be docked at the Polwarth Parish Church’s pontoon on the Union Canal.

Currently being built by New and Used Boat Co, the boat will serve as a safe space to gather, socialise and improve wellbeing. It will also host People Know How’s projects supporting children, young people, families and adults, while providing work or volunteering experience for the people who maintain it.

The boat will launch in the spring, with socially distanced plans for running it outside of lockdown already in place.
