ANNIVERSARY IS MODERATOR’S FIRST OFFLINE ENGAGEMENT

St Moluag’s Church in Tarland, Aberdeenshire, celebrated 150 years of worship in the current building on Sunday, September 30.

A special service had been planned over a year before, before the Covid-19 outbreak. However, with churches being allowed to reopen, the grand ideas were cut back and a simple celebration was organised observing all the current restrictions.

The service was the first ‘offline’ engagement for the Moderator of the General Assembly, the Rt Rev Dr Martin Fair, and his wife Elaine.

The church also welcomed Joanna,

Marchioness of Aberdeen, whose late husband’s forebears were instrumental in building the Church; and the Rev Iain Brown, who was the minister in Tarland for 25 years, with his wife Isobel.

Current minister, the Rev Frank Ribbons, rededicated the Church building.
