CROSSREACH FUNDRAISING

Members of the congregation of Westburn Parish Church in Greenock raised £827 for Adams House, a CrossReach specialist care home in Elderslie, thanks to a sponsored walk.

The cheque was presented to home manager Martin Lightbody in June. Residents from the home were also entertained at an afternoon tea at the Church to further cement the relationship.

The fundraising is part of a drive by the Church to raise dementia awareness. A team of dementia champions has been appointed and the Kirk Session, along with a donation from a local supermarket, approved funding for new signage designed to help those living with dementia.

Describing the work undertaken by the team, student minister at Westburn William Boyle said: “They will ensure we remain a welcoming and inclusive church. They will ensure regular training occurs, watch out for improvements we could make, if for example we decide to refurbish the building, they would decide on best colour scheme, furniture etc. On a Sunday morning they also keep an eye out for people who have dementia.”
