NEW SCHOOLS RESOURCE DEVELOPED BY ABERDEEN CHURCH PARTNERSHIP

A new resource for teaching Religious and Moral Education (RME) in schools across Scotland, developed by an Aberdeenshire church partnership, has been launched.

10 Must Know Bible Stories (10MKBS) is a group of resources developed by Sue Thomson, a Schools Worker based at Aberdeen: St Columba’s Bridge of Don, developed through a three-year partnership with local schools. The project has been part funded by the Go For It fund of the Church of Scotland.

Developed over three years, the resources include ideas for storytelling of 10 of the best loved bible stories, including Noah’s Ark, David and Goliath and the parables of Jesus.

Sue said: “10 Must Know Bible Stories is an easy-to-use toolkit for teachers throughout Scotland. The learning goals include to provide children with an understanding of Christian belief and to involve children as active participants encouraging them to respectfully and thoughtfully explore how faith and belief affect the world they live in.”

10MKBS has also partnered with the Scottish Bible Society, which has commissioned artwork to accompany the programme and created a website allowing the 10MKBS resources to be shared worldwide.
