POVERTY FOCUS FOR TRANSFIGURATION SUNDAY
Church Action on Poverty is hoping that churches will be inspired by the story of the Transfiguration to make a difference on Sunday March 3.
That Sunday, designated by CAP as Church Action on Poverty Sunday, is the final Sunday before Lent.
Celebrated in many churches as Transfiguration Sunday, when congregations hear the Gospel account of how Jesus and his mission were revealed in a new light.
CAP is hoping that churches will use the Transfiguration story as a starting point to looking at things in a new light; listening to the stories of people in poverty and using the dedicated worship materials to reflect and pray for change.
Churches are also invited to hold a collection or a soup lunch for CAP’s work.
CAP is a national ecumenical Christian social justice charity, committed to tackling poverty in the UK, and working in partnership with churches and people in poverty themselves.
Resources for CAP Sunday, including a worship and fundraising pack, Bible studies and preaching ideas are available at http:// www.church-poverty.org.uk
