STREET FEAST

A food and hospitality initiative run by a Dundee church featured in a series on BBC Radio Scotland in December Street Feast was an initial series of six programmes in which communities were brought together in a collective meal.

One of the episodes focused on Dundee and featured the ‘Connect With a Cuppa’ project run by Logie and St John’s (Cross) Parish Church.

Minister, the Rev David Gray, said: “The concept is of neighbours meeting together with food and prompting conversation about how to re-build/build community and neighbourliness in the context of societal fragmentation, with particular focus on issues of loneliness and isolation as well as mental health – all topical matters of concern at this time.

“A street opposite our Church was selected and one of the participants alerted the BBC of our own initiatives involving food and community-building.”

The Dundee episode was due to be broadcast on January 3 and should be available on BBC Sounds (formerly iPlayer Radio) by the time this magazine is published.
