MODERATOR RECEIVES BB CHEQUE

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rt Rev Susan Brown, received a cheque from the Boys’ Brigade World Mission Fund for the sum of £6509 last year. The money has been raised by BB throughout Scotland will be sent by the World Mission Council to help build a safe play area for children attending St Andrew’s Refugee Service (StARS) in Cairo.

Founded in 1979 by St Andrew’s United Church of Cairo, StARS was one of the irst organisations in Egypt dedicated to improving the quality of life of refugees and vulnerable migrants.

John Sharp, Director for the Boys' Brigade in Scotland, said: “I would like to congratulate all those members who have raised money to support St Andrew’s Refugee Service, especially from the companies who have received awards this evening.

“It is particularly special to see their eforts celebrated by so many, including the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt Rev Susan Brown.

“Raising money for such worthwhile causes is only part of the story, however.

“The World Mission Fund enables our members to discover more about the world around them and learn how they can make a positive diference to the lives of others.”
