LONG SERVICE IN BLAIRGOWRIE
PARISH NEWS
At a recent morning service in Blairgowrie Parish Church, Lex Dunlop was presented with a certificate in recognition of his 60 years as a church organist. The certificate was handed over by the Rev Harry Mowbray.
Mr Dunlop was first appointed as organist and choirmaster at St John’s Church, Ardrossan, in 1958 and 10 years later moved to St Cuthbert’s South Beach Church in Saltcoats. Ten years later, when he was appointed Rector of Blairgowrie High School, he played each Sunday at various churches in the area before taking up the post of organist and choirmaster in 1983 to the then St Andrew’s Church, Blairgowrie, later to become Blairgowrie Parish Church.
