COMMISSIONING

The Border Kirk Carlisle hosted the commissioning of the Church of Scotland’s new mission partner, Dr Linus Nnabuike Malu, on April 22.

Dr Malu, a noted Nigerian lawyer, is moving to Malawi to head up the legal team of the Church and Society Programme in the Synod of Livingstonia, part of Church of Central Africa Presbyterian.

The programme provides grassroots legal support and outreach for communities based in northern Malawi.

In a moving service Linus spoke of himself and his work before being officially welcomed as Mission partner by the then Moderator- Designate, the Rev Susan Brown of Dornoch Cathedral. Jennie Chinembiri, African and Caribbean Secretary of the World Mission Council, read the lesson and the Rev David Pitkeathly preached.
