CASCADE OF POPPIES

PARISH NEWS

The Busy Hands Group of Banff Parish Church have launched their “Knit-a-Poppy” campaign which will run until September. This is a church and community project to commemorate the centenary of the First World War and they hope to create a cascade of poppies in or outside the church.

Following on from their popular 24-hour knit-a-thon last year when they knitted blankets for the local Chalmers Hospital, they hope that as many people as possible from Banff and beyond will grab their needles and knit or crochet poppies for this project.

They are encouraging those making a poppy to have their work sponsored £1 a poppy (optional) with all donations going to the Earl Haig Poppy Appeal. They would also welcome any individual or business to sponsor some poppies or even donate wool.

Anyone who would like to support them can contact Janet Simpson on 01261 818211 or email info@banffparishchurchofscotland.co.uk
