TRAIDCRAFT SUCCESS

A group based in Kinross Parish Church is the number one seller of Traidcraft goods in Scotland and fifth in the UK.

The group brought in £17,021 this year – almost £1000 more than the previous year.

One of the group, Karena Jarvie, said “All the Kinross churches are now involved in selling Traidcraft goods and there is also an increasing number of local businesses who are contributing to this fantastic total. By buying and stocking fairly-traded goods they support some of the poorest farmers and producers in the world.

“We are aiming to sell £20,000 of goods a year. To do this we need even more involvement of businesses in the area. We also hope to have many of the local schools starting the journey towards Fairtrade Status.”
