PRAYER
Amen.
Lord of Creation, there is so much for which we are thankful in these autumn days.
We look back and remember the days of summer;
Days of rest from toil,
Holy days and holidays,
Days of fun and joy,
Of laughter with friends.
Exciting days filled with new possibilities.
Days of new beginnings as children went off to school
With the apprehension of the unknown
But full of life’s potential.
And we give you thanks.
We live in the present;
In days of autumn fruitfulness.
Giving thanks for your provision;
For the beauty of your creation
For the vibrant colours of the season.
In leisurely autumn days,
As life begins to slow,
You still have a purpose for us.
Opening before us
Days of fruitful harvest in our lives.
And we give you thanks.
We look forward to the dark days of winter
In the knowledge that you will be with us.
That in the physical darkness you are ever present.
In the dark reaches of our lives your light is a constant source of hope.
With you there is no darkness.
With you we need not fear.
The dark hours of life’s winter days
Will blossom with the new life of spring.
And we give you thanks.
Lord of Creation,
There is so much for which we are thankful
Not only in these autumn days
But through all the days of life.
