HALF A CENTURY

Forty members of Banchory West Church gathered to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Rob Watt’s ordination as an elder.

Minister, the Rev Tony Stephen, offered a prayer of thanks for Rob’s long years of loyal service, which included over 20 years as a Session Clerk, and presented him with a framed certificate signed by the Moderator of the General Assembly.

Rob joined the church in Strachan, Aberdeenshire, in his late teens and became an elder in 1967. A few months later he was invited by the Rev Frank Dey to become Session Clerk, a role he filled until 1987. When the church closed in 2002, Rob and his late wife, Bette, transferred their lines to Banchory West.

He is pictured with two of his daughters, Shirley (left) and Hazel.
