DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY OF ORDINATION

During a Service of Ordination and Induction at Barvas Church of Scotland on February 3, the Rev William Macleod was presented with a congratulatory letter from the Moderator of the General Assembly, the Rt Rev Dr Russell Barr, to mark 60 years in the ministry.

Mr Macleod was born in 1926 and came to faith during the Lewis Revival of 1949. He was licensed by the Presbytery of Uist in April 1956 and ordained and inducted to the Pastoral Charge of Benbecula in January 1957. He moved to UIg, Lewis in 1964 and ministered there for 42 years before ‘retiring’ at the age of 80 in 2006. He remains active in retirement, regularly preaching in island pulpits.
