PRAYER

‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.’

‘You are the salt of the earth.’

‘You are the light of the world.’

‘Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.’

‘Pray then in this way: Our Father.’

Holy God,

Essence Eternal,

Unborn,

Mother of Cosmos,

Father of Christ, immerse me in the Spirit that shaped the soul of Jesus, that gave Him Torah, tenderness and tears; steep us in the depthless deep,

Love’s self-emptying.

Adonai, Lord,

Imageless image,

Emptiness,

Nothingness, still my soul.

Meet me in the darkness,

Light’s shroud.

Haunted by heaven’s harmonies, plainsong pitched to perfection, symphonies of seraphic silence, resplendent in solar flare’s violent eruptions, pure and delicate as February’s first snowdrop, inscrutable,

Divine spark at the centre of my being,

All in all.

Kyrie Elêison,

Lord, have mercy.

Entwined, that

Your thoughts become my thoughts,

Your peace pervades my soul,

Your love for me, for others, for the earth becomes my love, my suffering, my life.

Our Father,

My Father.
