HONOURING FORMER MINISTERS

A Port Glasgow church has installed new stained glass windows in honour of its five former ministers.

The new windows at Hamilton Bardrainney Church were dedicated at morning service on November 27, with two of the ministers taking part in the service.

The initial inspiration for the windows came after the sad death of the Rev Tom Preston, when a donation was made for a reminder of his 10-year ministry in the church.

The Kirk Session decided that two stained glass windows in the church would be a fitting tribute. These windows were put in place and they now adorn and transform the entrance to the church.

Following this, it was decided to fit four more windows dedicated to the church’s other former ministers – the Rev Norman Orr, the Rev David Easton, the Rev David McAdam and the Rev James Munro. These windows have been installed over the last few months.

David Easton preached and James Munro offered prayers at the dedication service, which was led by the Rev Stuart Stevenson OLM. Retired deacon Greta Gray shared memories of each of the former ministers.
