PRAYER

In you, O God,
may we awaken
to the light
that stirs our souls
into life
each day.
In you, O God,
may we awaken
to the hour
that curves time
to hold our fears
and redeems them all.
In you, O God,
may we awaken
to the courage
that discovers faith
in an adventure
with honesty.
And in every renewal
that comes with the dawn,
that disturbs the shadows,
and shakes us free of the night,
may we be ready
to recognise the gravity
of hope,
and let it draw us towards itself
with life-breathing dreams,
and light-swollen words,
and thirst-quenching grace,
that unfolds a veil of surprise
over ordinary things,
that, in you, O God,
we might awaken
to the life you invite
that voices here
the promise of what is yet to be.
In you, O God,
may we awaken each day
to the imagination
and elegance
of your gift,
named: love.
